SNMP
The option ”SNMP” allows users to setup SNMP on an eyeInspect server, or to disable a previously enabled SNMP service for environments where SNMP is used to monitor server health status.
When configuring SNMP, sdconfig will allow the following settings to be applied:
| Setting | Details |
|---|---|
| Protocol versions | Enable legacy protocol versions v1 and v2c, or only use v3 |
| The SNMP username | |
| The SNMP user password | |
| The SNMP Encryption key | Required for v3 only |
| SNMP user privileges | Read-only or read-write |
| SNMP configuration details | Optionally set system location, description and contact |
| Custom snmpd.conf lines | Optionally set configuration lines to add to the /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf file |
After applying these settings, SNMP will be operational on the eyeInspect server, and SNMP queries can be sent to it. Ensure that the firewall allows SNMP communication on port 161 between the SNMP monitoring system and the eyeInspect server.
Examples of SNMP queries that may be applicable for eyeInspect health status monitoring are given in the below table:
| Metric | SNMP OID |
|---|---|
| 1 minute Load | UCD-SNMP-MIB::laLoad.1 |
| 5 minute Load | UCD-SNMP-MIB::laLoad.2 |
