Bandwidth Throttling

The Bandwidth Throttling configuration limits the throughput between the Passive Sensor and the Command Center. In networks with limited throughput, it can be used to prevent eyeInspect from disrupting other services that share the same network resources.

To enable Bandwidth Throttling for a given Passive Sensor:

  1. Visit the Sensors > Sensors Overview page
  2. Click on the respective Passive Sensor and select "Edit" from the Secondary Navbar
  3. Open the "Advanced Settings" tab
  4. From the "Bandwidth throttling settings" section, tick the checkbox titled Enable bandwidth throttling
  5. Select the management interface of the Passive Sensor
  6. Input the desired maximum speeds from/to the Command Center
  7. Select "Finish" in the Secondary Navbar
The bandwidth throttling status of the Passive Sensor can be previewed in the "Sensor diagnostics" page.

Note: Throttling is configured at the network interface level, therefore any other service running on the same machine that uses the same interface will be affected.
Note: Setting the maximum upload speed to low values might cause PCAP downloading to fail. To prevent this, increase the value of the Command Center startup option sdcc.pcapDownloadPage.closeDelay. For example, in case of 1024 Kbps max. upload speed, you might need to increase sdcc.pcapDownloadPage.closeDelay to 10000ms; for 512 Kbps - to 20000ms, and so on.
