About the HPS Inspection Engine
The HPS (Host Property Scanner) Inspection Engine enables the to access and manage Microsoft Windows endpoints.
The plugin is a component of the Forescout Endpoint Module, one of several Base Modules.
The HPS Inspection Engine allows Forescout eyeSight to:
- Access Microsoft Windows endpoints
- Apply Classification procedures to endpoints to determine their Network Function
- Perform comprehensive, deep inspection for the purpose of resolving an extensive range of endpoint information, such as operating system details, Windows security, machine, services, application information and more
Forescout eyeControl uses the HPS Inspection Engine to perform actions to manage, remediate or control endpoints.
This document describes how to configure the HPS Inspection Engine and provides other information, including:
- Supported operating systems
- Executables and processes generated by the HPS Inspection Engine
- Troubleshooting issues
Note: Some of the functionality and configuration settings described here
apply primarily to Windows endpoints. Configure the OS X Plugin and the Linux Plugin to
provide parallel functionality for OS X or Linux endpoints.
