Convert a Perpetual License to a Subscription License
Convert an existing perpetual license to a subscription (term) license using the Forescout License Portal and Console.
Use this procedure to convert a perpetual license to a subscription license using the License Portal and Console.
- Log in to the Forescout Customer Support Portal.
- Navigate to Licenses > Deployments.
- Locate and open the deployment that uses a perpetual license.
If the perpetual license is active, deactivate it in the Console before you can change the allocation.
- Open the Console and go to Tools > Options > Licenses.
- Select Deactivate, save the deactivation request file, and upload it to the License Portal under License Management.
- Edit the deployment in the License Portal.
- Add subscription license products, allocate the desired endpoint capacity, reduce the allocation of perpetual licenses to zero, and save.
- Activate the subscription license in the Console.
- Go to Options > Licenses > Activate, enter your Deployment ID, download the license request file, upload it in the License Portal, download the generated license file, and upload it in the Console.
- Validate the change.
- Confirm the perpetual license is inactive, subscription licenses show as Active, endpoint counts are correct, and no licensing warnings appear.
You cannot mix perpetual and subscription licenses within the same deployment.
All products in a deployment must match the base license type.
If you switch from a perpetual license to a subscription
license, you can revert to the perpetual license after the subscription expires or
is deactivated, as long as the perpetual license status remains Active.
You can use your original perpetual license on a different
deployment. Under standard policy, the perpetual license status remains Active, even
if you switch to a subscription license.
The Deployment ID locks to the machine after activation.
