Set up ACL

The Access Control List (ACL) must be configured when a user has specific roles other than admin. In this case, a user with a non-admin role does not have access to the sys_choice table, which is required to access and add comments. To configure the ACL in ServiceNow to allow fetching data from the sys_choice table using the REST API, complete the following steps:

We strongly recommend that you refer to the ServiceNow documentation page on ACL configuration here to ensure you have the latest UI instructions.
  1. Navigate to System Security > Access Control (ACL).

  2. Click on New to create a new ACL rule.

The system_admin role is required to complete this action.
  3. Fill in the following ACL form fields:

    • Type: record

    • Operation: read

    • Name: sys_choice

    • Field: select from the dropdown

    • Requires role: Add web_service_admin and other roles as needed

  4. Click Submit to create the ACL.
